🪐💫 Free Download: DIY Star Wars Collector Cards 🪐💫

If you love a good craft and a galaxy far, far away… this one’s for you.

These DIY Star Wars collector cards are the perfect mix of creative, nostalgic, and just the right amount of chaotic fun. Whether you’re making a set of your favorite characters, iconic ships, or even deep-cut creatures, this is one of those medium effort, high impact projects.

DISCLAIMER!

Ok, before we get started, I think it's important to let you know that I am NOT a Star Wars Expert. So I may have messed something up. NO, I probably messed something up ... a quote, a classification, a name. Please send me a message letting me know, and I'll get it corrected. Cool, thanks.

Let’s get into it 👇

TIME COMMITMENT:

Marathon (5 hours+)

DIFFICULTY:

2/10 ... You'll need patience, but no crafting experience!

CHAOS METER:

Minimal mess, mostly contained,

zero glitter

Today I’m channeling a little Artsy-ish Force energy your way with a FREE printable Star Wars Collector Card file you can download, print, and turn into keepsake-level galactic memorabilia. These are perfect for trading, memory making, and casually flexing your craft skills (fellow Star Wars enthusiasts won't believe you made them yourself!).

They’re shiny. They’re bold. They’re very main character in a galaxy far, far away energy. Let’s make something legendary ✂️✨

Before you start thinking “this looks like a whole mission”… hold up. You are 100% capable of making these. This isn’t difficult-difficult, it’s just use-the-Force-and-take-your-time difficult. If you can load paper into a printer and peel a sticker without going full dark side (or even if you do a little), you’ve got this.

Go slow, let the printer do its dramatic hyperspace-speed warmup, line things up as best you can, and remember: handmade is allowed to be a little imperfect. That’s part of the charm. Artsy-ish energy is all about experimenting, adjusting, and ending up with something cool you created yourself… and you’re already winning just by starting.

Deep breath. Trust the Force. Craft on. 💫

✂️ What You’ll Need

I may earn a small percentage of anything you purchase through these links at no additional cost to you. This helps fund future crafty chaos. Thanks for your support!

(Yes, I know this video is for Disney Cards. You make them the same way. Just go with it.)

🖨️ Step-by-Step: From Printer to a Galaxy Far Far Away

Step 1: Print the Card Front

Print the collector card file (free download below) on matte sticker paper.

  • Print size: As is (do not scale to fit) This will keep them as close to the size of a Pokemon card as possible.

  • Paper setting (VERY IMPORTANT!): Premium Matte

  • Speed: Painfully slow (this is correct, trust the process) If it's not printing super slow, you probably have the wrong paper setting. Do not pass go until you have the SLOW printer setting. Trust me on this.

If watching your printer slowly spit out these pages feels like you're watching a turtle walk backwards towards the finish line, you're doing it right.

Step 2: Print the Galactic Background

Print a seamless Star Wars background on holographic sticker paper.

You can use any seamless Star Wars pattern. I purchased this one off Etsy, but any one you like will work (google Seamless or Repeating Star Wars Background/Pattern and see what you can find!).

I highly recommend a seamless background. This way you don't have to worry about lining the back and front of the card up perfectly. Seamless background = way less stress. I scaled mine down using Canva. You can do this too if you want a smaller print ... check out this how-to for tiling a seamless pattern in Canva!

  • Print size: As is (no scaling!) This will print covering the most area of the page.

  • Paper setting: Premium Matte

  • Again… very… slow… printing 🐌✨ Same turtle analogy as above applies here.

Step 3: Stick It All Together

Time to commit. Deep breath.

  • Stick the background to one side of the cardstock

  • Stick the card front to the other side

  • Pay attention to which end is "the top" on both sides (future you will be grateful)

IMPORTANT PRO TIP for alignment magic:

  1. Fold down about 1 inch of the sticker backing

  2. Use the table to line up the bottom edges

  3. Pinch the top inch together to secure

  4. Slowly peel the rest of the backing and stick it down

  5. Repeat for the other side

If it’s not perfect, CONGRATS, that’s why we used a repeating background. Artsy-ish, not stressful.

Step 4: Cut the Cards

Use your paper cutter to cut along the guide cut lines on the printout. This is where it officially starts looking legit 👀✨

Step 5: Round Those Corners

Grab your corner punch and round all four corners. On the corner punch I got, I used the 4mm round.

Instant upgrade. Suddenly these feel like something you bought in a gift shop (but better).

Step 6: Package 'em in Mystery Packs

Ok, this step is optional, but seriously ups the fun factor.

Randomly package 10 cards in each Mystery Pack so it's like Christmas morning every time you open one. Sort them by theme, or don't. That's part of the magic ... it's totally up to you, you make the rules!

Once each pack is loaded, seal it using a food saver, mini heat sealer or a straightener. I've only tried the food saver, so experiment with the other sealing options at your own risk.

Print labels for the front of each pack, also on the slow setting, on holographic paper and put them on each pack after they're sealed. (This file is also in the free download!)

Step 7: Trade 'em, Share 'em or Keep 'em

It's totally up to you, what you want to do with these.

Is your kiddo having a Star Wars themed Birthday Party? How AMAZING would these mystery packs be in the goody bags?

Or take 'em to Disney and show 'em off to fellow Star Wars enthusists. (I don't think Star Wars Characters a signing autographs at this point in time, but they'd probably think they're pretty cool if you show them.)

Don't forget to grab a card book or binder to keep them organized and safe!

Step 8: Tag Me or It Didn't Happen

Please, PLEASE tag me in your photos. I want to see your cards living their best life.

💡 Understanding the Icons

These characters are more than just heroes and villains ... they’re full-blown personalities. We sorted them all into 10 fun, vibe-based categories to celebrate what makes each character iconic, lovable, or delightfully chaotic. Their main category is listed below their photo and supporting categories are depicted in icons.

Some of these icons I was able to pull directly from the Star Wars Universe. Some I had to make up.

💌 Support the Chaos (Optional, Obviously)

Some of the supply links in this post are affiliate links, which means if you snag your sticker paper or cardstock through them, I earn a few galactic credits at no extra cost to you. It helps fund things like glitter, printer ink, and my inability to walk past the craft aisle without blacking out. Thank you for supporting the Artsy-ish cause. 💖

And because a few of you have asked, if this free download made you smile and you want to toss a tip into the craft jar, you can Venmo me. Completely optional. Not required. Not expected. (Honestly, not even encouraged. I feel really weird including this, but you asked.)
